I want to use my DD-WRT router for everything like vpn, dhcp, and just use the Smart Hub as just to provide internet access nothing else. DD-WRT is a Linux-based firmware that allows us to have hundreds of advanced configuration options when we install it on a router.If you need to have advanced options in your router such as configuring VLANs, guest WiFi networks, VPN server with advanced settings, authenticating WiFi clients through the integrated RADIUS server, and many other possibilities, then you should install the DD-WRT.
) which worked however all my devices ended up at the Smart Hub and not the DD-WRT router so it seemed to me like the router was just acting like a repeater which was not the intended outcome. I didn’t want to have to learn about their firmware but their site was tremendously helpful to my problem. If anyone with the knowledge or expertise can help, I want to use my Smart Hub to act like a modem for my DD-WRT router so I can plug one end of the ethernet into the Smart Hub and the other end into the DD-WRT router's WAN port however I have tried it and It doesn't work. So, although I didn’t use or want the DD-WRT firmware on my routers, it did make it possible for me to get the routers back to the Linksys firmware that I wanted. I understand that I can just buy a Openreach modem but I wanna see if I can use my Smart Hub before going down the route of the Opennreach modem. I have the BT Smart Hub and I have DD-WRT Router that I want to use.
